Anyone who has lived through a Queensland summer storm knows that outdoor ceremonies need a proper rain plan. As a wedding celebrant Brisbane and Gold Coast couples rely on for practical guidance, we always recommend having a backup plan in place well before the big day, not as an afterthought a week out.

Talk to Your Venue Early

Many outdoor venues across Brisbane, from garden settings in New Farm to open air spaces in Carindale, have an indoor or covered alternative built in. Ask specifically what their rain plan looks like, how much notice they need to make the call, and who makes that decision on the day.

Consider a Marquee or Covered Structure

If your venue does not have a built in alternative, a clear marquee or covered structure can actually become a beautiful design feature in its own right, rather than feeling like a compromise. Some of our favourite ceremonies have taken place under cover with rain falling gently outside, surprisingly romantic.

Have a Clear Decision Point

As your marriage celebrant, we always suggest agreeing on a firm time, often the morning of the wedding, when the final rain plan decision will be made, so there is no last minute scrambling or confusion among your wedding party and vendors.
